Equipment under pressure: hard to implement.

Equipement sous pression : une mise en oeuvre laborieuse.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The application of the Directive on equipment under pressure (DESP) requires all the more difficult training since companies are small and not very structured. Its implementation also has a price tag, not often spoken about, and it is necessary, in order to continue to practise the trade under economically viable conditions, to include at least part of this cost in the retail prices. To be convinced, it is enough to measure the scope of the steps that must be taken, staring with design, with the determination of the risk categories, then at the time of the construction, with the location of the installation, compliance certificates, equipment certificates, qualification of the brazing procedure, qualification of the brazers, various tests, drafting of the instructions, risk analysis, etc. In this application, things also evolve over time. The use of data processing and the Internet proves to be invaluable and training is gradually being implemented.
