IN ORDER TO PROVIDE BETTER PRESERVATION OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, PRESENT TECHNIQUES ENVISAGE ETHYLENE REMOVAL FROM COLD ROOMS. TO THIS PURPOSE, THE FOLLOWING ABSORPTION PROCESSES WERE TESTED: POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE IN 3% AQUEOUS SOLUTION ; POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE ON AN ALUMINIUM SESQUIOXIDE BASE ; CATALYTIC PURIFYING SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM SEEMS THE MOST RELIABLE.
