Numerical study of air distribution in a refrigerated room.

Summary

The use of numerical methods can help to predict the air distribution in the refrigerated room with products. A mathematical model is applied to simulate the heat and mass transfer process, the air velocity and the temperature field. The equations governing the flow pattern and the energy equation with the appropriate boundary conditions are discretized using the finite element approach. Despite the very complicated shape of the air space in a refrigerated room filled with products and the high simulation time, 3D computer simulations have been obtained. The aim of the paper is to present these first simulations in order to analyse different kinds of air distribution and the influence on the product conservation.
