Growth of distributors' brands speeded up in Europe last year. Between 1993 et 1998, growth reached a level of 28%. Distributors' brands secured a market share of 11.6% of retail sales in Europe in 1998, this representing a total value of 278 billion USD. This trend is likely to continue: Euromonitor predicts that the market share of distributors' brands will reach a level of 13.9% by 2002.
