Evaluation of test methods for determining the effectiveness and capacity of gas-phase air filtration equipment for indoor air applications. 1. Literature review and test recommendations.

Author(s) : VANOSDELL D. W.

Summary

A review of gas-phase contaminant-removal literature provided the basis for a number of recommendations for a full-scale test method for air-cleaning devices. The methodology proposed utilizes a simulated outdoor air challenge with accelerated loading for permanently adsorbed contaminants and a simulated indoor air challenge containing a volatile organic compound mixture fed at concentrations greater than those found indoors. The proposed methodology is only a starting point.
