Evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop of R22 and R410A in smooth and micro-fin tubes.

Author(s) : SEO K., KIM Y.

Summary

Heat transfer measurements were performed for 3.0 m long horizontal tubes with nominal outside diameters of 9.52 and 7.0 mm. Evaporating temperature varied from -15 to 5 °C that was corresponding to operating conditions of heat pumps. Generally, it was observed that evaporation heat transfer coefficients of R22 and R410A increased as evaporating temperature dropped at the low heat flux. Pressure drop increased with the decrease of evaporating temperature and the rise of mass flux. Pressure drop of R22 was higher than that of R410A at the same mass flux. R410A has higher heat transfer coefficients than R22 for the range of low mass flux, high heat flux and high evaporating temperature.
