Summary
. FINNED-BATTERY > TYPE REFRIGERANT EVAPORATORS GENERALLY CONSIST OF A SERIES OF STRAIGHT TUBES LINKED BY U-SHAPED CONNECTORS. THE INFLUENCE OF THE CONNECTORS IS GENERALLY IGNORED WHEN CALCULATING THE EVAPORATOR PERFORMANCE. THIS ARTICLE REPORTS ON A DETAILED STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFERS IN U-SHAPED CONNECTORS. THE RESULTS OBTAINED SHOW A STRONG HETEROGENEITY IN THE COEFFICIENTS IN THE U-SHAPED CONNECTORS AND IN THE STRAIGHT HORIZONTAL SECTION. A COMPARISON IS MADE WITH THE AVERAGE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS, ON THE BASIS OF THE EXISTING CONVENTIONAL CORRELATIONS.
