Condensation heat transfer of HCFC22 and HFC134a outside a bundle of horizontal low finned tubes.

Summary

The paper presents original, experimental data for the condensation heat transfer coefficient of the currently used refrigerant R22 and the alternative R134a. Measurements were performed on a staggered finned tube bundle to determine the effect of condensate inundation with negligible vapour shear effect. The results were then obtained and compared with the models available in the literature. Finally, the heat transfer performance of the two refrigerants were compared in an attempt to provide guidelines for condenser design using the alternative R134a refrigerant.
