Summary

SOME PROCEDURES OF TREATMENT OF EXTERNAL TUBE WALLS FOR FLOODED EVAPORATORS WERE COMPARED UNDER TEST CONDITIONS VERY CLOSE TO THOSE PREVAILING IN INDUSTRIAL EXCHANGERS. THE AUTHOR SHOWED THAT TWO TYPES OF TREATMENT OF THE EXCHANGE SURFACE HAD A PARTICULAR HIGH PERFORMANCE: THEY ARE METAL-CLAD TUBES AND TUBES WITH DISTORTED FINS. THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE COEFFICIENT OF EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE FLUID TO BE EVAPORATED IS VERY SIGNIFICANT COMPARED TO PLAIN TUBES: 5 TO 15 TIMES. IN FLOODED EVAPORATORS, THE USE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE EVAPORATIVE TUBES INSTEAD OF TUBES WITH LOW FINS RESULTS IN A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN EXCHANGE SURFACE.
