Summary

RESULTS ARE PRESENTED OF AN INVESTIGATION OF THE ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF SAMPLES OF VARIOUS COMPOSITION RELATED TO THE R-BA-CU-O, BI-SR-CA-CU-O AND TL-BA-CA-CU-O SYSTEMS (R SIGNIFIES A RARE EARTH ELEMENT OR YTTRIUM). WITH LOWERING TEMPERATURE BELOW 180 K, THE TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCES OF THE ELECTRIC RESISTANCE R(T) AND MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY M(T) ARE FOUND TO CHANGE IN MOST OF THE SUPERCONDUCTING (CRITICAL TEMPERATURE HIGHER THAN 80 K), PRACTICALLY SINGLE-PHASE, SAMPLES. IT IS SHOWN THAT ALONG WITH THE THERMODYNAMIC FLUCTUATIONS, A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO R(T) AND M(T) MAY BE FROM IMPURITY PHASES WITH VALUES OF CRITICAL TEMPERATURE WHICH ARE HIGHER THAN THOSE OF THE BASIC PHASE.
