EXERGY ANALYSIS OF A LOW TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMP.
Author(s) : RANGREJ H. A., NARAYANKHEDKAR K. G.
Type of article: Article
Summary
HEAT IS PUMPED FROM LOW TEMPERATURE TO AMBIENT. THE PRESSURE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DISPLACER IS THE SAME EXCEPT FOR A SMALL DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE CAUSED BY THE PRESSURE DROP PRODUCED WHEN GAS IS FLOWING THROUGH THE REGENERATOR. THUS, NO APPRECIABLE WORK IS REQUIRED TO MOVE THE DISPLACER AND NO NET WORK IS DONE BY THE DISPLACER. THE PAPER PRESENTS AN EXERGY ANALYSIS OF THE DEVICE IN ORDER TO ESTIMATE THE VARIOUS LOSSES. THE EXERGETIC EFFICIENCY OF THE DEVICE IS ONLY 9.4%.
