EXPERIMENTAL DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMP USING A LIQUID RING COMPRESSOR.

Summary

THE PAPER DESCRIBES A HIGH-TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMP TEST RIG WHICH USES WATER VAPOUR AS THE WORKING FLUID. FOR SUCH A UNIT, TO OPERATE SUCCESSFULLY, PARTICULAR CONDITIONS IN RELATION TO COMPRESSOR COOLING SYSTEM, PRESSURE RATIO AND SUCTION VOLUME ARE REQUIRED, AND THESE ARE SHOWN TO BE OBTAINABLE WITH A TWO-STAGE LIQUID-RING COMPRESSOR IN WHICH A HEAT TRANSFER OIL IS THE RING LIQUID. EXTENSIVE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FROM THE TEST RIG ARE GIVEN AND ARE COMPARED WITH THEORETICAL VALUES.
