Summary

A HIGH TEMPERATURE STEAM GENERATING HEAT PUMP (SGHP) TEST FACILITY IS DESCRIBED. THE HEAT PUMP USES HOTWATER AS THE HEAT SOURCE, WITH TEMPERATURES FROM 328 AND 353 K (55 AND 80 DEG C THE OUTPUT OF THE HEAT PUMP IS SATURATED STEAM AT 373 TO 413 K (100 TO 140 DEG C). THE SGHP OPERATES IN A VAPOUR COMPRESSION CYCLE AND THE HEAT PUMP PACKAGE CONTAINS A RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR, AND A SHELL AND TUBE TYPE EVAPORATOR AND CONDENSER. THE HEAT PUMP HAS A MAXIMUM OUTPUT OF ABOUT 45 KILOWATTS.
