EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF A SINGLE STAGE DOUBLE INLET ORIFICE PULSE TUBE REFRIGERATOR.

ETUDE EXPERIMENTALE D'UN REFRIGERATEUR DU TYPE TUBE A IMPULSIONS AVEC DOUBLE INJECTION ET ORIFICE.

Summary

REFRIGERATION POWER OF A BASIC PULSE TUBE HAS BEEN INCREASED BY INSERTING FIRSTLY AN ORIFICE AND SUBSEQUENTLY AN ADDITIONAL GAS INLET AT THE HOT END OF THE TUBE. A DEVICE CAPABLE OF WORKING IN DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS (BASIC PULSE TUBE, ORIFICE PULSE TUBE AND DOUBLE INLET PULSE TUBE) HAS BEEN BUILT AND INSTRUMENTED WITH A PRESSURE PROBE AND A HOT WIRE LOCATED IN THE FLUID AT THE COLD END OF THE REGENERATOR. THUS THE PHASE SHIFT BETWEEN THE PRESSURE AND THE VOLUMETRIC FLOW RATE CAN BE VISUALIZED AND RELATED WITH THE CORRESPONDING VARIATIONS OF THE COOLING POWER.
