Experimental investigation of non-condensable gases: influence on the condensers operation of high-capacity refrigerating system at the ammonia terminal.

Summary

Operating conditions of high-capacity refrigerating system for the ammonia terminal is highly influenced by non-condensable gases coming into the condensers. Experimental study of air-cooled condensers operation in the presence of high concentration of non-condensable gases is carried out and characteristics of non-condensable gases influence on the ammonia vapour condensation inside horizontal tubes are determined. Further results of mathematical modeling for ammonia vapour condensation in the presence of air inside horizontal tubes for various velocities of vapour-gas mixtures are presented. Recommendations are given for the effect of non-condensable gases concentrations on the length of horizontal tubes for air-cooled ammonia condensers.
