Summary

Oil supply system is of great importance to compressor efficiency. This paper proposes a new experimental methodology to investigate the oil supply system inside a rotary compressor. For the sake of simplicity and controllability, only two radial oil feeding holes and an air hole have been taken into account. In particular, important parameters such as oil viscosity, oil level in oil sump as well as the rotational speed of crank shaft have been studied based on the present experimental apparatus. Oil feeding rate was measured by weighing the oil pumped out over a period of time. Experimental results indicate that oil viscosity, oil level in oil sump and the rotational speed of crank shaft are positively correlated with oil pumping capacities.
