Summary

This study has been conducted on condensation heat transfer characteristics of the brazed plate heat exchanger using R-22 as a condenser. In this study of R-22 condensation heat transfer in the vertical plate heat exchangers, the experimental conditions are saturation pressure of 1.19-1.53 MPa, refrigerant mass flux of 35-65 kg/m2.s, heat flux of 2.67 kW/m2. The condensation heat transfer coefficients have been observed with the refrigerant vapour quality varied from 0.9 to 0.1. The condensation heat transfer coefficient apparently increases with increasing the vapour quality. The condensation heat transfer coefficient slightly increases with decreasing saturation pressures and with increasing refrigerant mass flux. An appropriately proposed correlation for R-22 has less error, plus or minus 15.5% in comparison with the experimental data.
