Experimental results from a forced convection adsorption heat pump/air conditioner.

Summary

A patented cycle has been developed that uses heat transfer intensification to produce a heat pump/chiller with good thermal regeneration to reach a high coefficient of performance. This is achieved by using a circulating current of refrigerant gas through the bed of granular adsorbent to transfer heat between the bed and the heat exchangers. A bed of granular inert material is used to store useful heat from the cooling phase for use in the heating phase. A compact and simple to manufacture configuration for a production machine is presented.
