Author(s) : HAO C., LI A., ZHANG H., et al.

Summary

Based on theory analysis, the model of a vertical roof solar chimney enhancing natural ventilation was experimentally studied. The solar chimney dimensions are 2000 mm height and 1000 mm length respectively. On condition of heat flux and chimney gap variety, chimney interior temperature field and velocity field are studied. Results show that airflow increased with chimney gap augmentation, the optimum of chimney gap to height cannot be found limited to the study scope, and the airflow and air velocity increase as the solar radiant intensity getting stronger, and air velocity decreases with the increase of solar chimney gap. Air temperature and velocity are higher near the heated surfaces than those in the middle chimney. Meanwhile, temperature and velocity boundary layers formed near the heated surface.
