Summary

This paper develops a test system to measure the lubricant flow rate discharged from the compressor. The influence factors of the lubricant flow rate in a hermetic reciprocating compressors using R-600a as refrigerant are studied upon this experimental system. When the clearance between suction tube outlet and suction muffler inlet in a compressor changes from 4 to 6 mm, the lubricant flow rate of the compressors increases slightly by about 1.2%; when the viscosity of the lubricant decreases from ISO 10 to ISO 7, the lubricant flow-rate of the compressors increases up to 51.7%; the lubricant flow rate is more than double in compressors with oil-suction capillary compared with compressors without oil-suction capillary, which results in the power consumption of the refrigerators equipped with such compressors increasing 2-3.5% under standard 24 hours performance test conditions.
