Summary

The crystallization progress of tetra-n-butylammonium bromide solution was tested. The results indicate that the freezing point of TBAB solutions changes with concentration. The freezing point of TBAB solution changes from 5.8 to 9.3°C while the concentration changes from 25 to 45%. As a nucleating agent, natrium biboricum was added to the TBAB solution with the concentration of 40%. Then the phase-change point and latent heat were tested. The results show that natrium biboricum with the concentration of 2% reduced the supercooling of TBAB solution crystallization by 2.4°C without changing the freezing points of TBAB solution. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to test the melting latent heat of TBAB solution and the melting latent heat was 187.030 kJ/kg. Our conclusion is that TBAB solution is an efficient cool storage material for air-conditioning systems.
