Experimental thermodynamic analysis of small hermetic compressors operating with R134a.

Summary

A physical model has been developed to simulate the performance of hermetic compressors used in household refrigerators with powers between 60 and 300 watts. The model is based on the three equations of mass and energy balances and the polytropic processes. The experimental data used here have been obtained by following the ISO917 (UNE 86-202-84) standard for domestic refrigeration compressors. The values of the thermodynamic variables of the fluid at the inlet and outlet of the compressor are interrelated due to the polytropic processes taking place inside the compressor.
