Summary
Due to economic and environmental constraints, it is important to maintain good and efficient working standards for building energy systems. The paper summarizes the research effort in the development of an expert system for energy use evaluation of buildings. It examines the particular characteristics of the predetermination of energy inefficient buildings and cost-effective energy retrofit alternatives, and how they may be solved by the use of an expert system.
