Field performance of an ice harvester storage cooling system.

Author(s) : SOHN C. W.

Summary

The system consists of a 26-ton icemaker, a 300-ton-hour (3,800 MJ) above-ground steel storage tank, and a building (dental clinic) with a 246 kilowatts (70-ton) peak cooling load at Fort Bliss, TX. The performance of the icemaker and of one existing chiller during the last month of the 1990 cooling season has been measured for comparison. Prior to the field installation, the icemaker was tested in a laboratory environment. A description of design, construction, and performance of this system is presented.
