Film condensation in microchannels.

Author(s) : WANG H., ROSE J. W.

Summary

Further developments in an ongoing theoretical investigation of film condensation in microchannels are reported. The model includes the effects of surface tension, vapour shear stress and gravity. Results are presented for condensation of R134a in channels with different shapes and typical dimension 1 mm. For a given mass flux, the local condensate film profile around the cross section is calculated and used to determine the mean heat-transfer coefficient along the channel. The results are presented for one vapour mass flux, one vapour temperature and one wall temperature, taken to be uniform.
