Summary
ENERGY CAN BE SAVED WHEN DRYING THE CROP ONLY UP TO THE BALANCE HUMIDITY LIMIT (14-15%) AND PROVIDE FOR A LASTING STORABILITY BY VENTILATION PROTECTING THE SUBSTANCE. THE POSSIBILITIES OF ENERGY SAVING BY COLD STORAGE HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED WITH A REFRIGERATOR COUPLED WITH A HORIZONTAL SILO. AFTER FILLING THE SILO, COOLING WAS APPLIED UNTIL THE ADJUSTED 280 K (7 DEG C) TEMPERATURE WAS ACHIEVED. PERIOD OF COOLING WAS 3-4 MONTHS. APPLICATION OF THE COOLING TECHNOLOGY, COMPARED TO OTHER TYPES OF TECHNOLOGIES, IS THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS IN RESPECT OF BOTH FUEL OIL CONSUMPTION AND SPECIFIC TOTAL ENERGY COSTS.(HUNG. AGRIC.
