Summary
As a measure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the European Union decided to phase out the refrigerant R134a in mobile A/C systems of passenger cars in 2011. When using R744 (CO2) as an environmentally friendly alternative, the flexible lines must have ultra-low permeation rates. The article describes the development of permeation tight flexible A/C lines for CO2 A/C systems, based on corrugated metal hoses.
