Flow boiling of refrigerant-oil mixtures: measurements of heat transfer coefficients.

Summary

In-tube flow boiling results of refrigerant R134a-oil mixtures are presented. Numerical methods were used to display the heat transfer coefficients as a function of the circumferential angle and the vapor quality. Results show an enhancement of the coefficients due to the presence of lubricant concentration above mass 1% and vapor quality 50%. This study demonstrates that the transition between nucleate and convective contributions to flow boiling is not only a function of the vapor quality.
