Summary

HFO1234yf/HFC32 based refrigerant mixture have been proposed as alternative refrigerant blend to reach a new low Global Warming Potential (GWP) target of working fluid. These mixtures take advantage of the ultra-low GWP of HFO1234yf and the relatively high energetic performance of HFC32. Flow boiling pressure drop data of these blends are necessary for during the design and modelling of refrigeration system. Therefore, in the current work, an experimental system was assembled and the pressure drop was measured for the HFO1234yf/HFC32 based refrigerant blends inside multiport mini-channel tubes. The pressure drop data trend with heat flux, mass flux and vapor quality are analysed and comparison of pressure drop of different blend are made. Finally, correlation was established for practical engineering prediction.
