Flow boiling regimes and CHF prediction for He I thermosiphon loop.

Summary

The present paper investigates experimentally the critical heat flux (CHF) in He I natural circulation loop near atmospheric pressure. The experiments were conducted on 2 m thermosiphon loop with copper tube of 10 mm inner diameter, uniformly heated over a length of 1 m. Results, concerning wall superheat and pressure drop evolution with heat flux, are presented and analyzed. Moreover, an attempt is carried out to correlate our CHF data with the channel height to diameter ratio z/D.
