Study of two-phase flow of helium I.

Etude d'écoulements d'hélium I diphasique.

Author(s) : BREDY P.

Summary

To better understand the behaviour of forced-circulation two-phase (gas-liquid) flow of helium I, research was done to visualize and measure the concurrent horizontal and ascending-vertical flows in 10-mm piping. The instrumentation developed can be used to better characterise different flow configurations. Various techniques are used, ranging from capacitive measurement to fiber optics or Beta sources with a semi-conductor detector. Application examples of such detectors are presented.
