DESCRIBES THE INVESTIGATION OF AN EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUE BASED ON THE MIE SCATTERING PROCESS TO MAP OUT THE INSTANTANEOUS TWO-DIMENSIONAL TEMPERATURE FIELD IN A MIXING FLOW. APPLIES THE TECHNIQUE SUCCESSFULLY TO THE CASE OF A THERMOSIPHON FLOW WHERE TEMPERATURES OBTAINED BY THIS METHOD ARE COMPARED WITH THERMOCOUPLE MEASUREMENTS. STATES THAT THE PROCESS IS NOT ONLY A QUALITATIVE METHOD USEFUL FOR FLOW VISUALIZATION, BUT AN EFFICIENT TECHNIQUE FOR TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS.
