Four 12-kilowatt/4.5 K cryoplants at CERN.

Summary

The LEP-2 project involves the installation of 192 superconducting accelerating cavities. Four cryoplants were ordered in 1991, two from Air Liquide (France), and two from Sulzer (now Linde, Switzerland-Germany). Processes, construction, commissioning and acceptance tests of the four plants is described, and their main features are compared.
