FREEZE-DRYING OF HAEMOGLOBIN IN THE PRESENCE OF CARBOHYDRATES.
Author(s) : LABRUDE P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
GLUCOSE IN THE SOLUTION MAKES POSSIBLE THE FREEZE-DRYING OF HAEMOGLOBIN WITHOUT ITS OXIDATION. A RANGE OF CARBOHYDRATES HAVE NOW BEEN USED IN HAEMOGLOBIN SOLUTION OF 45 + OR -5 G LITRE-1WITH CARBOHYDRATE TO A CONCENTRATION OF 0.2 M. A COMPOUND WAS CONSIDERED TO BE EFFECTIVE IF METHAEMOGLOBIN WAS LESS OR EQUAL TO 10 PER CENT. TRIOSES TO HEPTOSES AND DISACCHARIDES WERE TRIED. RESULTS ARE TABULATED. TRIOSES AND TETROSES WERE INEFFECTIVE, THE FOUR ALDOSES EFFECTIVE, SIX ALDOHEXOSES AS EFFECTIVE AS GLUCOSE. THE RESULTS IN RELATION TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE COMPOUNDSAND POSITION OF CARBON MOLECULES ARE DISCUSSED. C.R.F.
