Summary

In the modern fish-processing industry, the freezing and packaging equipment often incurs the heaviest costs for companies. Consequently it is vital that this equipment is used properly, the investment, operating and maintenance costs are monitored and the product quality is up to standard. When it comes to packaging, the type of material and initial deep freezing methods were studied. The experiments done in the freezer tunnel at SINTEF Energy Research determined that measures such as removing the lids from the cardboard boxes had very positive effects on deep freezing time.
