Frosting of air coils: a new experimental approach.

Author(s) : FAHLEN P. O.

Summary

A new technology has been developed to investigate the variations of frost density in frosted air coils. The method complements previous experimental methods and is based on the possibility to weigh continuously the coil. Classic equations for pressure drop in dry coils provide a relation between pressure drop, flowrate and frost thickness. Knowing the simultaneous value of the frost mass provides a direct method to calculate frost density.
