Summary

THE THERMAL AND AERODYNAMIC OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF DIFFERENT GEOMETRIES OF AIR COOLERS WERE STUDIED. CHARTS WERE DRAWN FOR THE GENERALISED CHARACTERISTICS OF AIR COOLERS. THE AUTHORS SUGGEST TO EVALUATE THE MAIN OPERATING PARAMETERS OF THE OPERATION OF AIR COOLERS BY MEANS OF A DIMENSIONLESS FROST COEFFICIENT, ALLOWING FOR THE ORIGINAL CONDITION OF THE HEAT EXCHANGE SURFACE AND OF FROSTING INTENSITY. A CORRELATION WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE CORRECT SELECTION OF FAN CHARACTERISTICS AND THE DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMUM OPERATING CONDITIONS OF THE UNIT. A METHODOLOGY WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE CALCULATION OF AIR COOLERS FOR MEAT INDUSTRIES.
