Summary

THE COMMONLY USED DESIGNS FOR FROZEN FOOD DISPLAY CASES ARE THE UPRIGHT MULTI-DECK, THE CHEST OR WELL TYPE, AND GLASS-FRONTED REACH-IN CABINETS. RECENT IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DESIGN OF THE FIRST HAS REDUCED OPERATING COSTS BY AS MUCH AS 33% BY BETTER DEFROST DESIGN, COIL AND FAN IMPROVEMENTS AND LESS USE OF ANTICONDENSATE HEATERS. THIS HAS REMOVED MUCH OF ITS DISADVANTAGE COMPARED WITH THE OTHER TWO, WITHOUT DETRACTING FROM ITS BETTER SALES APPEAL, EASE OF CUSTOMER ACCESS AND HIGH DISPLAY AREA PER UNIT OF FLOOR AREA REQUIRED.
