Generation of solid hydrogen micropellets.

Author(s) : CHERNETSKY V., BUCHAROV A., BÜSCHER M., et al.

Summary

Internal targets for particle accelerator experiments, supplied by an monodisperse jet of micro spheres ("pellets" with 20-60 µm diameter) of frozen cryogenic liquids, open new possibilities in the field of hadron and high-energy physics. In order to generate such pellets a cryogenic set-up has been developed. Studies of the hydrogen and nitrogen pellets production and their propagation were conducted. Spatial and angular distributions of pellets beams have been measured.
