Summary

The article points out that geothermal energy has established itself on the market, with some large installations incorporated into district heating networks, and above all, with a large number of smaller installations for heating single-family housing. A guideline is being developed, the first two sections of which are now in draft form. Heat sources for ground heat pumps and their characteristics, the durability of shallow geothermal energy and the efficiency and market penetration are reviewed.
