Summary

Data on physicochemical characteristics of the fruit at harvest and at the end of storage under various conditions are tabulated and the effects of harvesting date and storage conditions on the development of storage decay, core browning, CO2 injury, scald and other storage disorders are described. The fruits showed no symptoms of CO2 injury. Harvesting between September 10 and 15 (with a starch index of 3.5-4.0 in valley areas and 3.0-3.5 in highland areas) and storage in ULO gave the best results. Fruits harvested in valley areas could be stored until mid-February whereas fruits harvested from highland regions could be stored until mi-April.
