Heat and mass transfer enhancement by additives.

Summary

It is well-known that different additives provoke a significant increase of heat and mass transfer in falling-film absorbers in liquid sorption systems. In the paper a review of the state-of-the-art as well as of recent developments in experiments with falling-film absorbers and desorbers are presented. Working pairs to be covered are water-lithium bromide and ammonia-water. In the latter case no significant improvement has been detected whereas in the first case an improvement of up to a factor of 2 is reported.
