PRESENTATION OF RESULTS OBTAINED IN THE UNDERSTANDINGOF THE HEAT EXCHANGE BEHAVIOUR OF HIGH PERFORMANCE TUBES: TUBES WITH POROUS SURFACES ; TUBES WITH A DEFORMED INTERNAL WALL ; TUBES WITH INTERNAL GROOVES ; UNDULATING, LOUVERED, HATCHED AND PYRAMIDAL FINS ; TUBES WITH A CORRUGATED WALL ;EXCHANGERS WITH SOLDERED OR BRAZED PLATES OF VARIOUS GEOMETRIES. VARIOUS PHENOMENA INFLUENCING THE EXCHANGER EFFICIENCY HAVE BEEN ALSO STUDIED: EFFECT OF THE PRESENCE OF OIL, REDISTRIBUTION OF THE LIQUID-VAPOUR FLOW BETWEEN TUBES, DROPLET CARRY-OVER. MANUFACTURERS AND USERS CAN ACQUIRE THIS SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE THANKS TO SOFTWARES FOR THE DIMENSIONING OF THE EXCHANGERS AND THANKS TO TESTS CARRIED OUT ON EXCHANGERS. J.L.
