HEAT FROM AN OLD COAL MINE IN SWEDEN.

Author(s) : BOVIN J. Y.

Summary

AN OLD CLOSED COAL MINE IN SOUTHERN SWEDEN IS PARTIALLY FILLED WITH WATER. IT SERVES AS AN ALMOST INFINITE HEAT SOURCE FOR A HEAT PUMP, SINCE THE WATER TEMPERATURE IS ABOUT 282 K (9 DEG C) ALL YEAR. A HEAT PUMP WAS INSTALLED AND OPERATES TOGETHER WITH THE OIL-FIRED BOILERS. SINCE THE HEAT PUMP WAS INSTALLED, OIL-CONSUMPTION HAS BEEN DRASTICALLY REDUCED.
