Based on the findings from the Heat Pump Center/IIR analysis "Heat Pump Status and Policy Review", the main factors affecting the heat pump markets are reviewed for a cross section of countries. Such factors include the national energy resource situation, energy prices, climate, building standards, and the type of industrial activity in a country. Because of the wide global variation in basic factors, the international heat pump market is highly diverse. The market remains dominated by the US and Japan, where it is driven by the space cooling demand.
