HEAT PUMP SETBACK: COMPUTER PREDICTION AND FIELD TEST VERIFICATION OF ENERGY SAVINGS WITH IMPROVED CONTROL.

Author(s) : BENTON R.

Summary

A THERMOSTAT WAS DESIGNED WITH AN IMPROVED CONTROL STRATEGY THAT REDUCES OR ELIMINATES THE USE OF AUXILIARY HEAT FOR RECOVERY. PERCENTAGE ENERGY SAVINGS APPEAR TO BE AS LARGE OR LARGER THAN THOSE FOR CONVENTIONAL FOSSIL-FUEL AND ELECTRIC SYSTEMS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO DESCRIBE HOW THIS THERMOSTAT WAS DEVELOPED, HOW IT WORKS, AND WHY THERE IS CONFIDENCE THAT IT WILL BE COST-EFFECTIVE.
