ENERGY SAVING, CAPACITY CONTROL FOR HEAT PUMPS.

Author(s) : FORDSMAND M.

Summary

BOTH CALCULATION AND PRACTICAL MEASUREMENTS VERIFY THE ENERGY SAVING PROPERTIES. IT IS BASED ON THE FACT, THAT THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES IN THE HEAT EXCHANGERS ARE KEPT RATHER CONSTANT, WHEN THE ON AND OFF PERIODS FOR THE COMPRESSOR ARE SUFFICIENTLY SHORT. WITH CONSTANT WATER TEMPERATURES THIS WILL RESULT IN MORE FAVORABLE PRESSURE CONDITIONS FOR THE COMPRESSOR AND THE COP WILL RISE WITH DECREASE IN THE CAPACITY. THE BEST COP WILL BE OBTAINED WITH SMALL PRESSURE RATIO, SMALL RELATIVE HEAT OUTPUT, WITH TIMEBASIS AROUND 15-60 SECONDS, AND WHEN THE HEAT EXCHANGERS ARE UNDERDIMENSIONED.
