Author(s) : STENE J., EGGEN G.

Summary

The paper presents the unique 1.6 megawatts heat pump system at the University of Bergen, Norway. A central heat pump uses sea water as heat source and supplies heat at intermediate temperature to a distribution grid. The tempered water is used as heat source/sink for de-centralized heat pumps providing heating and cooling in individual buildings or groups of buildings. All heat pump units will be using ammonia as working fluid. Advantages of the system are given.
