Heat pumping systems for the next century.

Author(s) : STRØMMEN I., BREDESEN A. M., EIKEVIK T., et al.

Summary

The current paper identifies two fundamentally different strategies in coping with this challenge. The first one is the chemical strategy, which implies developing new synthetic chemicals for conventional types of machinery. The second one, the natural strategy, is to start with a safe fluid and then develop and design a new piece of machinery fitting that fluid. Further, the paper discusses research and development efforts within several heat pumping application areas where natural working fluids have been successfully applied in NTNU-SINTEFs laboratoires.
