Heat pumps in energy concepts.
Author(s) : WUNNIK A. W. M. van
Summary
Optimum use of available fuels depends on the methods of conversion. For domestic heating the end-user may employ electricity, solid fuels in a district heating scheme or gas, burnt directly or in a CHP chain. Analysis of the conversion methods shows that exergy efficiency is sensitive to the final use temperature. Chains of conversion can be complimentary, with heat pumps showing a definite advantage.
